SCICSG Receives BCCF Grant

Columbus, IN (June 23, 2017) – South Central Indiana Communications Support Group, Inc. is pleased to announce it has received a $5,000 grant from the Brown County Community Foundation. These funds will support the Brown County Repeater Project.
The Brown County Repeater Project is working to upgrade and enhance the amateur radio repeaters that serve Brown County, Indiana. This project will upgrade existing equipment on the repeaters in the Nashville area and will build a new repeater in the northern part of Brown County to expand the coverage area of the repeater system. These repeaters are used by licensed amateur radio operators during severe weather and disasters to better serve the citizens of Brown County. Fund raising efforts will continue to work toward a goal of $23,000 to complete all work within the scope of the project.
“Pete Lenges built these repeaters through his passion for amateur radio and his sense of duty in serving the people of Brown County. We will continue that legacy by enhancing and expanding this system into something that he would really be proud of,” stated Brian Smith, SCICSG’s president. “Thanks to this grant from BCCF, we’re well on our way to achieving that goal.”
Established in 1993, the Brown County Community Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life in Brown County. BCCF serves as a vehicle for donors, volunteers and community members to identify important issues, share ideas and build financial resources to make positive long-term change. BCCF awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process. In 2017, BCCF has awarded more than $80,000 in grants and has awarded thirty scholarships to deserving students. All of this is achieved through the generosity of the people of Brown County and their donations to the foundation and its 186 endowment funds.
